Head of Technology
As an ActiveQuote Head of Technology, you’ll lead our DevOps department to deliver the technology strategy in alignment with our Vision of “Owning and transforming the way customers buy health and protection insurance”. Working alongside other key internal stakeholders, you will be architecting solutions to meet the needs of the business.
You’ll also be a part of the Senior Management team and interface with the executive board on a regular basis and become a trusted confidante, unafraid of offering opinion and expertise where required. You will contribute to the leadership of the business by supporting the achievements of the business’s vision, values, initiatives and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the DevOps department in architecting solutions that meet the needs of the business
- Be responsible for managing the DevOps team comprising of Engineering, Infrastructure and Data
- Establish strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders across the business, including but not limited to Sales, Finance, Partnerships, Risk and HR
- Contribute to the leadership of the business by supporting the achievements of the business’s vision, values, initiatives and strategic objectives
- Contribute and coordinate the strategic development of the business in terms of the technology strategy to further develop best practice in support of the business’s key strategic aims
- Demonstrate and lead on the values, initiatives and culture of the organisation
- Take responsibility for the “big picture” and deal with any matter that needs attention, particularly when other senior management are not available or away from the office

- This role requires the individual to be added to the FCA directory as certified to perform a Significant Management Function. The certificate proves that you have been approved as Fit and Proper by ActiveQuote to carry out the above duties
Skills & Education

Essential
- Extensive experience of operating within private/commercial businesses, along with operating at a senior level within an organisation
- Experience of supporting and influencing senior decision makers
- Architectural, functional AND technical understanding of several different web related technologies, in particular the Microsoft stack; these form the backbone of our solutions
- Demonstrate sound commercial business acumen, supporting strategic decision-making within the business with the ability and experience to understand the company’s finances, resourcing and the ultimate aims of the business
- Able to balance the vision of the business whilst executing strategy with a pragmatic approach to decision making, ensuring appropriate risk management
- Be able to work under pressure, be personable, with a collaborative leadership style
- Experience of managing teams to meet high levels of service in a fast-paced environment
- Professional expertise, knowledge and experience will be vital in this role to mentor, guide and lead various levels of personnel within the business
Desirable
- Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics or relevant field, and be Scrum Master certified
- Experience managing overseas teams
